World Tiger’s Day – Std. I & II
With the aim of raising consciousness about tiger conservation, World Tiger Day is annually celebrated on the 29th of July. The students of Std. I and Std. II came together to raise awareness for this charismatic but critically endangered species, as India is home to nearly 75% of the tiger population. A special assembly was conducted on Monday, July 29, 2024. The assembly began with the thought for the day and a few facts about tigers, followed by a role play to explain the pivotal role of the tiger in balancing and maintaining the ecosystem. The students were very enthusiastic about the celebration and actively participated in all events. The teachers displayed considerable knowledge about tigers and conservation-related issues through a video. Their informational presentations and the activities raised awareness of the need to protect tigers. This initiative turned out to be extremely fruitful as the students developed sensitivity towards nature and wildlife. They learned that it’s imperative not just to protect but preserve their natural habitats. They also understood the importance of saving these cat species as they are a crucial part of the food chain. The students exhibited great zeal in showing their fondness for our national animal, the tiger.
