World Literacy Day & Hindi Diwas – Assembly – Std. I & II
In order to raise awareness about the importance of education, a special assembly titled ‘World Literacy Day – Enrich Yourselves’ was conducted for the students of Std I and II on Monday, September 09, 2024. The assembly began with a focus on literacy explaining that September 8th is celebrated globally as World Literacy Day each year. This was followed by the ‘Thought for the day’. In a gesture of love and respect for different languages, students shared a few ‘Amazing Facts’ in English, Hindi and Kannada.
The ‘Teacher’s Talk’ highlighted the primary aim of observing this day: spreading awareness among people about the importance of literacy. Various ways to enhance basic literacy skills, such as listening, speaking, reading, writing and using imagination and creativity to make learning more engaging were discussed. The significance of incorporating reading and writing into our daily routines was also emphasised. The students participated enthusiastically in the assembly as well as in the ‘Art of Storytelling Activity’ held during the Enrichment Period.
