Onam Special Assembly – Std. III to Std. V
Onam, the vibrant harvest festival of Kerala, is celebrated to welcome the return of the legendary King Mahabali. Falling in the first month of the Malayalam calendar, Onam is a ten-day celebration marked by joy, togetherness, feasting, traditional songs, dances, and boat races. At its heart, the festival embodies the values of love, harmony, equality, sharing, and unity.
To celebrate the spirit of Onam, the students of Std. IV B presented a special assembly on Monday, August 24, 2026. The assembly was a delightful blend of tradition, culture, and creativity, offering the audience a glimpse into the rich heritage of Kerala.
The programme began with a melodious Malayalam song performed by a group of students, setting a festive tone and evoking the warmth and joy associated with Onam. This was followed by a graceful dance performance, through which the students beautifully expressed the vibrancy and cultural richness of the festival. Adding meaning to the celebration, the class teacher delivered an engaging theme talk that brought alive the story of King Mahabali and highlighted the values associated with Onam. The students were reminded of the importance of respecting diversity, embracing differences, and sharing happiness with others. The assembly concluded with the National Anthem, leaving the audience with a renewed appreciation for India’s rich cultural diversity and the timeless values that unite us. The celebration was a memorable experience that beautifully reflected the spirit of ‘Onam – a festival of togetherness.’
