National Youth Day – M & H
National Youth Day, also known as Vivekananda Jayanti, is celebrated on 12 January, being the birthday of Swami Vivekananda who was highly regarded as a major force in the contemporary Hindu reform movements in India and contributed to the concept of nationalism in colonial India.
The students of Standard IX B of Mitra Academy celebrated National Youth Day in a special assembly.
The assembly started with a thought on Vivekananda’s ideologies followed by a Bengali poem of Vivekananda which was translated into English by a student. The highlight of the assembly was the famous speech in Parliament of World’s Religions in Chicago in 1893. The assembly ended with a graceful dance by the students.
