National Sports Day Assembly – Std. III to Std. V
The spirit of sportsmanship, fitness, and teamwork came alive at Mitra Academy as the Upper Primary students celebrated National Sports Day on Friday, August 28, 2026, in honour of the legendary Indian hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, whose birth anniversary is observed on August 29. Fondly remembered as the “Hockey Wizard,” Major Dhyan Chand remains an enduring symbol of excellence, dedication, and passion for sport. The special assembly began on an inspiring note with the Thought for the Day, followed by the News, Weather Report, Interesting Facts, and an engaging Quiz Session. A captivating Theme Talk on National Sports Day further enriched the celebration, taking students through the remarkable life, achievements, and contributions of Major Dhyan Chand to Indian hockey. Adding significance to the occasion, a teacher addressed the gathering and highlighted the vital role of sports in the holistic growth and development of young learners. She encouraged students to embrace an active lifestyle and reminded them that participation in sports goes beyond winning—it teaches perseverance, discipline, teamwork, and resilience. The celebration concluded with the National Anthem, leaving the students with a strong sense of pride, unity, and national spirit. The occasion beautifully reinforced the message that sports are not merely about physical fitness; they are about building confidence, character, leadership, teamwork, and valuable life skills. National Sports Day served as a joyful reminder to every student to stay active, stay healthy, play with determination, and grow with the spirit of sportsmanship.
