Moon Phases Craft Activity – UKG

The UKG children explored the different phases of the Moon through a creative craft activity. The children learned that the Moon appears to change shape as it moves in relation to the Earth and Sun. Using paper cut-outs, the children arranged the Moon phases in the correct sequence on a black background, coloured the Full Moon and labelled each phase. The activity encouraged observation, sequencing, creativity and fine motor skills, while helping children develop a basic understanding of the Moon’s changing appearance. The completed crafts provided a meaningful way for the children to visually represent and reinforce their learning about the Moon.
