Field Trip to to Swachagraha Kalika Kendra – Std. VI

As part of their real-world learning experiences, the students of Grade VI visited Swachagraha Kalika Kendra, HSR Layout, on 7th July 2025. The visit aimed to create awareness about waste management and the importance of keeping the environment clean. Ms. Lakshmi took the students in separate groups, explained the types of waste—dry, wet, and sanitary—and demonstrated how dry waste is segregated and compressed into bundles. Students were encouraged to pledge and practise and promote three-way waste segregation at home. Back at Swachagraha Kalika Kendra, Ms. Lakshmi emphasised the need to minimise waste sent to landfills, as it contributes to pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. The students also learned how to compost kitchen waste using simple materials and witnessed how the compost is used to grow fresh vegetables. Overall, it was an informative and engaging educational trip, providing students with practical insights into sustainable waste management practices.
