Field Trip to Geological Survey of India – Std. VIII

Mitra Academy organized a one-day educational trip to the Geological Survey of India (GSI), Bengaluru, on 29th & 30th June 2026 for the students of Class VIII. The visit offered students valuable practical exposure to the field of geology. They learnt about mineral exploration using satellite imagery and aerial photographs, the identification of rocks and minerals, mineral processing, and advanced analytical techniques using instruments such as the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and the Electron Probe Micro Analyzer (EPMA).
Interactive sessions, audio-visual presentations, a fascinating collection of rocks, minerals, fossils, and precious stones and a live demonstration of a flame spectroscope further enhanced their understanding of geological analysis. The visit provided students with valuable hands-on learning, enabling them to connect classroom concepts with practical applications and inspired a greater interest in Earth sciences.
