Drop Everything and Read Activity – Std. I & II

The DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) activity was conducted for the students of Std I & II on Tuesday, September 03, 2024, with the primary objective of inculcating reading habits in children. It also serves as a welcome break, stimulates reading and above all, instils love for books among students in a highly digitised world. It aims to enhance reading skills, foster a quiet reading environment and make reading delightful. Reading not only connects the reader with the characters and the great authors of all the time, but also teaches moral values and lessons that are important to understand life in a better manner. Students showed great enthusiasm in selecting and reading their favourite books. Most students remained focused and were immersed in their books throughout the 30-minute session, indicating a successful silent reading environment.
